Mrs. Cathy Denise Canter McCullough, 63, of Connelly Springs, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at her happy place, Ocean Lakes Campground.
Cathy was born on March 28, 1960 in Caldwell County to the late Horton Jonathan Canter and Betty Louise Watson Canter. Before her retirement she was employed as a dental assistant for many years. She was also a longtime member of Warlick’s Baptist Church in Connelly Springs, and was passionately known as “Nana” to her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Canter, and three grandchildren, Savanna, Mackenzie, and Jasper.
Survivors include her children; Amber Poplin and husband Joe of Connelly Springs, Brad McCullough and wife Anna of Connelly Springs, and Christa Bodford and husband Tommy of Lenoir. Also surviving are two sisters, Renee Pardue and husband Curtis, Renita Ritchie and husband Chuck, a sister in-law, Martha Canter, three grandchildren; Sydnie, Easton and Mia, and bonus grandchildren; Seth, Emma, Audrina, Lauren, Max and Riley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 4:00 P.M. at Warlick’s Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Murry and Rev. John Jolly officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. at Warlick’s Baptist Church in Connelly Springs.

She was an amazing friend and a amazing lady. I loved her smile . Our families favorite place is OL as well. Enjoyed visiting with her on several occasions

My heart broke when I heard the news, but I then I had a moment of happiness knowing you are celebrating with one of your greatest friends, numerous family members and others who have gone before you!! My heart goes out to the family. I only met Cathy 2 days earlier at OL when she needed help with her awning. She went home in peace from her “happy place” for sure.
