Mrs. Carol Falls Sutphin, 79, of Valdese, passed away on Friday May 30, 2025 at her residence after a period of declining health.
Mrs. Sutphin was born August 28, 1945, in Floyd County, VA. a daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia Allen Falls. She retired as a nursing assistant after more than 30 years of service with Frye Regional Medical Center. Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a faithful member of Solid Rock Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joanna Falls.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, William “Slick” Sutphin of the home, sons, Josiah Caleb Sutphin and wife Shasta of Connelly Springs, Andy Griffith and wife Rhonda of West Jefferson, NC, Tony Griffith and wife Sonya of Floyd, VA, a daughter, Tamara Moses and husband Karl of Shelby, NC and a sister, Cathy Cockram and husband, James, of Floyd, VA. Also surviving are the apples of her eye, her ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Carol Sutphin will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday June 3, 2025, at Solid Rock Baptist Church, with Rev. Stacey Layne and Rev. James Cockram officiating. Interment will follow in the Solid Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 until 2:00 P.M. at Solid Rock Baptist Church.

I’m truly sorry to hear of her passing she was on of the sweetest lady I knew. She will be missed by all. May God give peace and comfort to the whole family.
I have some wonderful memories of Ms. Carol from my time at Tabernacle Christian School. Her smile was contagious and could always brighten my day. I enjoyed going on vacation to Myrtle Beach with her family the summer after my 10th grade year. God comfort her family in the comings days.
