Mr. Bobby Dean Houston, 71, of Granite Falls, passed away on Monday July 3, 2023 at Fourlines Hospice in Caldwell County, after a long period of declining health.
Mr. Houston was born February 5, 1952, in Burke County, a son of the late Henry Houston and Mamie Huffman Houston. He retired from MDI after 27 years of service to open his own trucking company in Hildebran, NC. Bobby was a very loving father and dedicated family man, who loved drag racing and the trucking industry. He enjoyed going to all the local drag strips as a racer and car owner, and always looked forward to his annual trip to Gainesville, FL with his closest friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Franklin and brother in-law, Bob Franklin.
Survivors include his son, Bobby Houston Jr. and wife Misty, and one daughter, Lisa Odom and husband William. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Cooper Houston, Paige Campbell, Bethany Keen, Kasey Odom and Madison Odom, a nephew, Brian Franklin and wife Kim, and their daughter, Moriah Franklin, and one niece, Angela Franklin and husband Jonathan Gouge and their daughter, Sarah Gouge, and his fur son, Mudflap, his favorite child/loving companion.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 5:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Rev. Dewayne Buchanan and Jimmy Abernathy officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 4:00 until 5:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.

I love you pawpaw Houston.
Bobby I’m so sorry for the loss of your dad. I believe I’ve known Bob all of my life and he has always been such a good person and always respectful. I know how close you and him were and even though knowing he is walking the streets of gold and he isn’t hurting its still hard to let go of those we love. We are praying for you and your family and if you need anything at all, please don’t hesitate to call. We love you ❤️
So sorry, Bobby, you took great care of your daddy
So sorry for your loss. You and Your family are in my prayers.
It was such a privilege to be able to take care of Bobby at Hickory Falls. He was such an old and kind soul. I love and cherish him. His room was always the “hangout” room because he would make us all laugh. I will keep Bobby jr. and family in my thoughts and prayers.
Bobby, So sorry for your loss. Another Angel gone too soon !! Prayers !!
