Billy Joe Wagner, 75, of Connelly Springs, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 16, 2022.
Billy was born on November 25, 1947, in Johnson County, Tennessee, a son of the late Wilburn Wagner and Ruby Griffey Wagner. He was a 1965 graduate of Johnson County High School in Mountain City, Tennessee. He served for four years in the United States Air Force, during which time he served two tours in Vietnam. As a member of Shoup’s Grove Baptist Church, he was very active in the church. He served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and song leader. Music was a passion and joy to him.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; a brother, Ronda Wagner; a sister, Shirley Dugger; and two nephews.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of almost forty-seven years, Linda Kiser Wagner; daughter, DeAnna Kinney and husband Joe of Pensacola, Florida; son, David Wagner and wife Robin of South Hadley, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Lauren Kinney, Erin-Joy Kinney, Stephen Kinney, and Lily Wagner; brothers, Bobby Wagner and wife Carolyn and Jess Wagner; sister, Connie Sluder and husband Burl; brother-in-law, Tony Kiser and wife Becky; and thirteen nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday December 20, 2022 at Shoup’s Grove Baptist Church with Rev. J. C. Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in the Shoup’s Grove Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Shoup’s Grove Baptist Church.
