Betty Sue Mull, 96, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025, after several years of declining health and a courageous battle with dementia.

Born on November 13, 1928, in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Gladys Baker.

She was a quiet person who enjoyed spending time with her family,  playing games, traveling, crocheting and reading. She retired from Drexel Heritage after working many years in the Order Entry department and was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Methodist Church/Christ United Methodist Church in Drexel.  Sue thoroughly enjoyed watching the services online in her later years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Howard Dale Mull, daughter Karen Scott, and brother Murrell Baker.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Regina (Mike) Murphy, son-in-law Sam Scott, grandchildren Stephanie (Jim) Scott-Gaddy, Brandon (Tonya) Scott, and great grandchildren Addy Jean Scott, Chelsey and James (Cassie) Gaddy along with several great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 25, from 1 to 2 pm at Heritage Funeral Home. The service will begin at 2 pm officiated by Pastor Cindy Wechter. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church,  PO Box 38, Drexel, NC 28619 or Amorem Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Street NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.

Special thanks and acknowledgement to the staff of College Pines for their care, love and compassion given to “our Mother.”  Also a huge thank you to Burke Hospice for helping us through this difficult journey.
