Benny Leonard “Ben” Huffman, 90, of Valdese, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Amorem Hospice following a period of declining health.
Ben was born on May 20, 1932 in Burke County to the late Lewis Huffman and Nanny Rhoney Huffman. He was a United States Army Veteran; was a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and employed as a real estate agent with Chapel Hill Realty for many years. Ben loved to cook, especially cheesecakes, travel, was an avid Tarheel fan and was a member of Waldensian Presbyterian Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Selenah Pons Huffman; his son, Benji Huffman; his brothers, Harold Huffman and Lewis “Jay Bird” Huffman; and one sister, Livian “Libby” Huffman.
Survivors include sister-in-laws, Becky Morgan of Chapel Hill, NC and Paula Kandarian of North Attleboro, MA; nephews, Matthew Huffman of Nashville, TN, Michael Huffman of Portland, OR, Tony Hall of Chapel Hill, NC and Tom Hall of St. Louis, MO, numerous cousins, and many friends
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday May 13, 2023 at Waldensian Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with Rev. Tamika Garrison officiating.
