Mrs. Ardell Moses Leonard, 84, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Thursday December 7, 2023, at Amorem, Burke Hospice, Valdese, after a period of declining health.
Mrs. Leonard was born March 5, 1939, in Burke County, a daughter of the late R.E. and Mary Mace Moses. She was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church, a graduate of Queens College and retired from Southern Devices as a computer programmer. Ardell loved her family and had a strong faith all through her life. She and her special friend, Clara Tomlinson, loved to travel. In all, she visited all 50 states and Canada, Europe and numerous other countries.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Leonard is preceded in passing by her husband, Jack Herman Leonard, and a brother, Robert Lee Moses.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jack Jeffrey Leonard and wife LeeAnn of Morganton, Alisa Renee Leonard and husband, Bill Amburn of Connelly Springs, Ronald Alan Leonard and wife Jennifer of Connelly Springs a sister, Louise Burgess of Denver, NC and a brother, Bilford Moses of Morganton. Also surviving are the apples of her eye, her grandchildren, Megan Van Rensburg, Crysta Bumgarner, Leslie Leonard, Ben Leonard, Sam Leonard, Cole Leonard, Sydney Leonard, step-grandchild, Brett Amburn and a great-grandchild, Jasper Van Rensburg and a number of nieces and nephews.
The Leonard family will receive friends Sunday December 10, 2023, from 6:00 until 7:30 PM at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.
A Private Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday December 11, 2023, at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Rocky Hartman officiating.

So sorry to hear of Ardell’s passing. She was always special to me growing up. Praying for all of you as you go through this time of sorrow. Love to all .

My prayers and sympathy are given to Jack and the Leonard family. Jack was a friend and colleague for many years while working together in the school system.

So so sorry to hear of Ardell’s passing. I was her mail carrier for 20+ years and it was always a pleasure to stop and talk with her. She was always so sweet.
