Ms. Annie Laverne Hamrick, 79, of Valdese, passed away on Wednesday May 3, 2023 at home following a period of declining health.

Annie was born on February 5, 1944 in Cleveland County to the late Howard and Osteen Wall Hamrick.

In addition to her parents, Annie is preceded in passing by her brother, Howard Hamrick, and two children, Debbie K. Childers and Michael Dale Childers.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Tommy Childers and wife Stacey of Claremont and Jessie Lynn Lail of Lenoir; daughter, Melina Thomas and husband Lee Thomas of Statesville; sister, Connie Sisk and husband Marshall of Claremont; brother, Buren Hamrick and wife Revonda of Mountain View; sister-in-law, Anne Hamrick of Blackburn; grandchildren, Leslie Vinces of Conover, Devin Leatherman of Conover, Candice Sanchez of Hickory, Victoria Brown and family of Drexel, Jessica Childers and family of Newton, Heaven Shook and husband Tyler of Morganton, Hailey Mondrut and husband Nick of Winston-Salem, Mandi Elrod of Charleston, SC, and Kala Pritchard of Claremont; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Startown First Baptist Church at 2615 Sigmon Dairy Rd., Newton, NC 28658.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Sarah Fox of Taylorsville for her help as a great caretaker and special friend and to Burke County Hospice for their care and support.
